Exciting Update for Migrants with Construction Skills!

Melbourne

Are you a skilled worker in the building and construction industry looking to move to Australia?

Great news! The Australian government is fast-tracking skills assessments to help meet the urgent demand in the housing construction sector!

What is changing?

This initiative will help streamline the processing of around 2,600 skills assessments for targeted construction occupations and 1,900 potential migrants from countries with comparable qualifications. This means faster processing times and more opportunities to contribute to Australia’s booming housing sector.

Starting from 1 July 2024, Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) is prioritising assessments for these key occupations under Migration Skills Assessment (MSA) program.

And from 31 July 2024, the Offshore Skills Assessment Program (OSAP) will no longer be mandatory for applicants from specific occupations and low-risk countries with a relevant qualification. This makes the process simpler and more affordable!

Who is eligible?

Construction Occupations that are eligible for Prioritisation and Streamlining include:

  • Bricklayers from China, Iran, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom
  • Cabinetmakers from China, Iran, Ireland, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom
  • Carpenters and Carpenters and Joiners from China, Iran, Ireland, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom
  • Joiners from China, Iran, Ireland, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom
  • Welders (First Class) from Iran, Ireland, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom

Before applying, make sure you check if a skills assessment is needed for your visa and that TRA is the correct authority for your nominated occupation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your skills to Australia and contribute to a critical sector! Don’t miss out!
