The Australian Government has allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places to Victoria for the 2024-25 program
These skilled nomination places for the region of Victoria comprise of:
- 3,000 places under the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- 2,000 places under the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
The Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) is a permanent visa allowing you to live and work anywhere in Victoria.
The Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) is a 5-year visa with a pathway to permanent residency after living and working in regional Victoria for at least 3 years.

- On 27 Aug, 900 Registrations of Interest were selected based on ranking.
Good News!
All 500+ occupations on the DHA’s Skilled Occupations list are eligible for nomination. Also, both onshore and offshore applicants are eligible. There will be no nomination application fee and no minimum work experience requirement.

- Construction
- New energy
- Digital economy – for Sc 491 visa

Priority will be given to those in the Health, Social services, and Education sectors.
What is the Nomination Process for Victoria?
We will first submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Department of Home Affairs. The, submit your Registration of Interest (ROI) to the VIC Government. Third, we will submit your nomination application once your RoI is selected and you are invited to apply for nomination. Lastly, we will submit your visa application after your nomination is successful.
What are the basic requirements for Victoria nomination process?
You must be living overseas or in Victoria (regional VIC if seeking nomination under Sc 491 visa), and be committed to living and working in Victoria (regional VIC if seeking nomination under Sc 491 visa).
You must of course have your Registration of Interest (ROI) selected.
The age limit is 44 inclusive, so you must be under 45 years of age. You must also have a level of English proficiency that is at least Competent English.
We would ensure that you have a valid Skills Assessment in an eligible skilled occupation for this visa. Last but not least, you must achieve at least 65 points on the Australian Government’s points test.
Further Requirements
If you are living in Australia (onshore) you must be living in Victoria (regional VIC if seeking nomination under Sc 491 visa). VIC Govt makes some case-by-case exceptions for those living in border communities.
Some outer suburbs of Melbourne are considered regional for Sc 491 visa purposes.
There is no minimum work experience and hours of work requirement, but if you are living and working in Victoria, you must be working for an employer physically located in Victoria (regional VIC if seeking nomination under Sc 491 visa). The employment does not have to be related to or the same as your nominated occupation, but earnings must be from skilled employment in Victoria (regional VIC if seeking nomination under Sc 491 visa). A business using a virtual office or proxy office is not considered as physically located in Victoria.
Onshore applicants currently employed in VIC can provide an estimate of their annual earnings in the Registration of Interest (ROI) as your earnings are one of the factors used to select ROIs for invitation.
