How do you calculate points for a qualification?
The Australian General Skilled Migration program uses a points-based system to assess the eligibility of applicants. Points are awarded based on several factors, including age, English language proficiency, work experience, education, and other factors. Here's how points are awarded for qualifications under the General Skilled Migration program:
Bachelor's degree or higher
Applicants with a Bachelor's degree or higher from an Australian educational institution or an overseas qualification that is equivalent to an Australian Bachelor's degree will be awarded 15 points.
Diploma or trade qualification
Applicants with a diploma or trade qualification from an Australian educational institution or an overseas qualification that is equivalent to an Australian diploma or trade qualification will be awarded 10 points.
Other qualifications
Applicants with other qualifications that are relevant to their nominated occupation may be awarded points based on an assessment by a relevant assessing authority. The points awarded will depend on the level of the qualification and the assessment by the assessing authority.
Is your qualification relevant?
It's important to note that qualifications must be relevant to the occupation that the applicant is nominated for. The relevant assessing authority will assess the applicant's qualifications to determine whether they are relevant to the occupation. Applicants must also meet other eligibility criteria, such as English language proficiency, age, work experience, and other factors, to be eligible for the General Skilled Migration program.
