What is the Australian Core Skills List (CSOL)?
The new Consolidated Skilled Occupation List (CSOL) addresses the government’s objective of modernising and streamlining the previously complex and outdated occupational lists associated with the temporary skilled visa program. The CSOL is a unified list derived from extensive labour market analytics and stakeholder engagement conducted by Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA), encompassing 456 designated occupations eligible for temporary skilled migration.
This CSOL is integral to the Core Skills stream of the forthcoming Skills in Demand visa, which is supplanting the Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) visa effective 7 December 2024. Additionally, the CSOL is applicable to the Direct Entry stream of the permanent Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) visa, thereby influencing both temporary and permanent migration pathways.
How do I find out if I am eligible?
Applicants who wish to apply for a visa under the CSOL must meet the relevant skills and qualifications requirements for their occupation, as well as other eligibility criteria such as English language proficiency, age, health, and character. The requirements and eligibility criteria can vary depending on the specific visa program being applied for. Australian Shores provides an eligibility assessment for that purpose.
What occupations are included in this list?
The CSOL contains 456 occupations.
